CEDAR and SALT
- ABOUT -

Cedar and Salt is the culmination of many ideas and much support from friends, family, and community. I didn't grow up learning to cook, or even loving food. It wasn't until I was an adult that I discovered farmers markets, the amazing diversity of vegetables and fruits, and the community centered around creating and providing good food. I discovered the commonalities people share despite myriads of differences. After being welcomed to so many tables around the world- despite language barriers, despite socioeconomic differences, despite faith and background, I developed my love of food culture and have come to believe home really is where the hearth is.
I (slowly) learned to cook from amazing women all around the world who opened their hearts and doors to me and ate all my burnt food without complaint. I was highly influenced by my Korean aunties, Eastern-European cousins, and Norwegian/Tlingit/Alaskan potluck driven community. The leap from merely cooking for friends to sharing with the public was inspired by my dear friend Chef Therese. I hope my journey inspires you to create your own love-of-food journey as well, whether it be hosting a giant potluck or finally mastering the perfect fried egg.
Welcome to Cedar and Salt and thank you for your support!
